Blue Cart Recycling Expands this Spring
Chicago’s Blue Cart Recycling Program will be expanding to an additional 20,000 households in early April, 2012. Blue carts will be delivered by Waste Management to the front of residents’ homes beginning March 21st and will need to be moved next to the black garbage carts. Waste Management will collect the recycling in this area on an every-other-week schedule. Residences receiving carts will be mailed more information, including their pick-up schedule and a list of accepted materials.
The City and Waste Management are scheduling a series of informational community meetings to answer questions about the program at the locations listed below:
- Tuesday, February 21, 7:00 p.m., Humboldt Park Field House, 1440 N. Sacramento Ave.
- Tuesday, February 28, 7:00 p.m., St. Helen School, 2347 W Augusta Blvd.
- Thursday, March 1, 7:00 p.m., Humboldt Park Field House, 1440 N. Sacramento Ave.
- Tuesday, March 20, 7:00 p.m., St. Helen School, 2347 W Augusta Blvd.
Residents living in the expansion area are encouraged to attend one of the community meetings to find out more about the city’s Blue Cart Recycling Program.
